Hotels in Hong Kong, Thailand, and Bali

During a 10-week trip to Asia, January to April ’05, we had the pleasure of staying in several excellent hotels.

• In Hong Kong, CHINA, Harbour Plaza Hong Kong (20 Tak Fung St., Whampoa Garden, Hunghom, Kowloon; phone 852 2621 3143 or visit www.harbour-plaza.com) had an elegant lobby with spectacular views of Victoria Harbour, especially from the rooftop infinity pool. $321 double.

• Also in Hong Kong, the Langham Hotel (8 Peking Rd., Tsimshatsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong; phone 852 2375 1133, fax 2375 6611 or visit www.langhamhotels.com) has an excellent location near the ferry terminal and other points of interest. $180.

• In Bangkok, THAILAND, nothing beats The Peninsula Bangkok (333 Charoennakorn Rd., Klongsan, Bangkok 10600, Thailand; phone [66-2] 861 2888 or visit http://bangkok.peninsula.com), which is often rated “the Number One Hotel in the World.” Great views and restaurants plus special programs including cooking lessons at their academy. $210.

• Three hotels in the Pan Pacific chain (call 800/327-8585 or visit www.panpacific.com) were great choices, especially the Singapore hotel with its stunning atrium. We stayed at the Pan Pacific Bangkok in Thailand ($135), the Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur in MALAYSIA ($100) and the Pan Pacific Singapore in SINGAPORE ($175).

We experienced wonderful service in our accommodations and top-notch amenities. We didn’t want to leave!
