New airport in Sumatra

The brand-new Kuala Namu International Airport (code KNO) is now operational on Sumatra, Indonesia. Located about 32 kilometers (20 miles) from Medan, the fourth-largest city in Indonesia, it has replaced the Polonia International Airport.Â
The new airport is the largest of the seven major airports in Indonesia. It can manage up to 8.1 million passengers per year and has runways that can handle large, wide-body planes. International airlines using the airport are Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, AirAsia, Firefly Malaysia, SilkAir and Mihin Lanka.
