Funniest Thing for February
Tell ITN about the funniest thing that ever happened to you while traveling in a foreign country. There are no restrictions on length. While visiting Chuncheon in the mountains east of Seoul, I took a bus south from town and spent a couple of hours walking around a forested area that included a few rice paddies in the tiny valleys.
Going back north, I got out of the bus at the edge of town to walk the mile or two back to the hotel.
It was a sweaty July afternoon, so I went into a busy restaurant to get a cool drink. The service was really poor, but I finally got the attention of the waiter, who brought me a cool soda.
Soon a young Korean man came over and in perfect English said, “You know, this is a wedding reception.”
