Interpreting the signs

Several years ago, my wife and I visited relatives in Germany and rented a car to explore. On one trip, we traveled to Mannheim, parking on a side street and walking through a museum. We returned to the car and I pulled out but came upon a street sign that was unfamiliar. 

Now, when renting a car in Germany, you are given a road map that has on its back about a hundred road signs and their meanings, so I pulled over and got out the map.

Looking back and forth from the pictures to the sign, I finally announced, “Here it is: ‘NO STOPPING’.”
