Honeymoon salute!

This month’s winner is NORMA KLOECKENER of Greenville, South Carolina:

At the beginning of our honeymoon, my husband and I flew into Mexico City. By the time we had reached our hotel, I had altitude sickness and was on oxygen.

We were supposed to go days later to a hotel in Acapulco, but staff in our Mexico City hotel recommended that we go to Acapulco as soon as possible. There was no flight that day, but a hotel employee knew of two brothers who would be glad to drive us to Acapulco, “down to the sea.”

We left early the next morning. The car was new and very comfortable. After several hours, we stopped at the top of a hill. The view was beautiful.

The brothers got out of the car… with long rifles! They fired the rifles at the sky. Then they explained that they had to fire the rifles so that the local “bandits” would know that we were armed.

After that, no more surprises, and we soon were “by the sea.”

What an introduction to marriage!
