Liberia reopened its borders in late February due to a large drop in the number of new cases of ebola. In the first two weeks of February there were only two confirmed new cases of the virus in Liberia, as opposed to 74 in Sierra Leone and 52 in Guinea.

Since the ebola outbreak began in early 2014, 9,300 people, mostly in Western Africa, have died of the disease. Some airlines, including British Airways, Emirates, Kenya Airways and ASKY Airlines, have temporarily suspended service to or from ebola-affected countries.Â
