For my trip to Sweden, I wanted to visit more than Stockholm. Being handicapped by a lack of tech savvy, let alone a computer and Internet access, I needed some help.

In 2014, after having seen it advertised in ITN’s Mart classifieds, I took a group tour of the Baltic countries with Scott Jercich’s Vertical Horizons Travel (Folsom, CA; 888/995-1016, www.verticalhorizonstravel.com). I was still receiving Scott’s newsletter and noticed that he could assist, so I called him. Soon we had a program laid out.

I would spend five days in Stockholm, two of which included day trips, one to Gripsholm and the other to Uppsala. Then I would take a 4-day Stockholm-Gothenburg Göta Canal cruise, ending with two full days in Gothenburg.

Scott arranged for my pickup at the airport in Stockholm plus my hotel there and rail tickets for my day trips. He offered suggestions for seeing the sights in Stockholm and then got me to the canal cruise, on which I spent four wonderful, relaxing days. He also reserved my hotel room in Gothenburg, arranged my final transfer to the airport and booked my flight back to the US.

My cost for the trip, July 8-20, 2015, including single supplements at lodgings but excluding airfare and insurance, was $5,596.

I had a wonderful visit to Sweden. As a solo traveler, I never had a concern. All I had to do was follow the itinerary.

I strongly recommend Scott Jercich and his firm. Not being able to utilize today’s technology is no reason not to travel.
