A favorite flat in Chelsea

Since London is one of our favorite cities, my friend Mary and I add a visit there to the beginning or end of any tour in the area. In May 2015, after a tour of England, we chose to stay — for the sixth time — at our favorite London lodging, a flat in Chelsea (6 Tite Street, Chelsea, London; wonderfulchelsea@aol.com) that is advertised often in ITN’s Mart section.

Ted and Marie Phillips live upstairs and are fabulous hosts.

In the flat, the electric fireplace is topped by a portrait of Queen Victoria and flanked by bookcases, lending a warm feeling to the room — both figuratively and literally.

The beds are comfortable, the shower is hot and strong, and we appreciate the heated towel racks. The small kitchen along one wall allows us to eat any meal we wish while at “home.”

The price per night for both of us was $190.

A Tesco located a block away carries all necessary provisions, but many nearby pubs and restaurants are worth visits too. Access to buses and the Underground is easy, and walking along the Thames only a few blocks away is a joy.

Also, by car, Ted provides a free tour of London filled with extensive information about seemingly everything. Both Ted and Marie are registered Blue Badge Guides.
