The Kabalebo Nature Resort (Paramaribo office, phone +597 426 532, http://kabalebo.com), located in the Amazon rainforest and accessible only by air, is where I spent three days and two nights as a member of the tour “Guyana, Suriname & Trinidad” in March 2015. For the 13-day tour, sponsored by Adventures Abroad (Blaine, WA; 800/665-3998, www.adventures-abroad.com), I paid $4,290.

This extraordinary resort offered everything for the greatest experience in the rainforest, including a welcoming party upon landing on their runway, complimentary drinks, prompt check-in to comfortable individual lodges, an assortment of tasty options at mealtimes, and staff in all work areas who offered quick and efficient service in every way.

An absolute requirement was an instant change of clothes, as we couldn’t escape the arrival of rain within minutes of sunshine. The rainforest gave no advance warning.

The entire resort covered a huge area and was very picturesque.

In all my years of travel, this is a place for which I have everlasting memories.
