Bombing in Pakistan

A suicide bomber targeted a police checkpoint near a market in the eastern Pakistan city of Lahore on July 24, killing 26 people and injuring more than 50 others. A Pakistani branch of the Islamist militant group the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

The US Department of State warns against all nonessential travel to Pakistan, which continues to experience significant terrorism-related violence. Throughout Pakistan, foreign and indigenous terrorist groups continue to pose a danger to US citizens, with evidence suggesting that some victims of terrorist activity have been targeted because they are US citizens.
