Pakistan bombings

A suicide bomber targeted a protest in the city of Lahore in northern Pakistan on Feb. 13, killing at least 13 people and injuring 83 others. Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a group associated with the Taliban in Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attack. The protesters, who were mostly pharmacists, were demonstrating against a proposal that will change laws regarding the sales of drugs in the province of Punjab.

On Feb. 16 in southern Pakistan, a suicide bomber targeted an important Sufi shrine in the town of Sehwan, killing at least 88 people and injuring at least 270 others. The bombing was claimed by the Islamist militant group Daesh (ISIL).

On Feb. 17, in an antimilitant operation on the Pakistan/Afghanistan border, Pakistani armed forces killed up to 100 suspected members of Daesh and arrested 47 others.
