Rabbie’s in Scotland

Prior to taking a 6-day tour of the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Skye in June 2016, I stayed at the Portree Independent Hostel (www.hostelskye.co.uk) in Portree, Scotland.

The tour was with Rabbie’s Trail Burners (207 High St., Edinburgh, Scotland, EH1 1PE, U.K.; phone +44 131 226 3133, www.rabbies.com), and, as a senior, I paid £329 (near $404).

A few hours after I was picked up for the tour, we were visiting a castle when our tour leader/driver caught me in the gift shop and said that the manager of the hostel had found my meds, which obviously I had forgotten.

When the next Rabbie’s tour bus came by, the manager gave my meds to the driver, who took them to their small office in Edinburgh, where they were waiting for me when the tour ended.

That’s just one of the reasons I’ll travel with Rabbie’s again.

It was a great tour. The members of our group bonded quickly, and on the second night, 14 of us went to dinner at a pub near the center of Portree, the “town” where we lodged on Skye, in the Inner Hebrides.

One tour highlight happened earlier that day. Each of us sang our country’s national anthem, even the Japanese professor!
