From Reykjavik on Icelandair

Icelandair (www.icelandair.us) recently canceled its summer morning flights from Reykjavik, Iceland, to New York City and bumped people with bookings to the 5 p.m. flight, which arrives at JFK Airport at 7 p.m.

Not me! When I called, on Jan. 30, to ask why I had been bumped, protesting the later arrival, I was told they would refund the full fare for my June 22, 2018, flight (a stopover while heading back from Scotland) but that it would take four to six weeks. I received an email confirming the pending refund. The refund came sooner than expected, on Feb. 12.

I decided to, instead, fly British Airways for my return, since the price was only $6 more than my Icelandair ticket, plus I can fly nonstop from London’s Heathrow. I’ll arrive in New York at 2 p.m.
