Swiss waterfall climb

In northern Switzerland, you can take a boat to the base of Rheinfall, the largest waterfall in Europe, and climb the stairs on the pinnacle of rock at its center. Including the climb, a ride lasts about 30 minutes.

Operated by Rhyfall Mändli (Schifffahrt am Rheinfall, Tobeläckerstrasse 9, 8212 Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland; phone +41 52 672 48 11, www.rheinfall.ch/en/rhyfall-maendli), boats leave regularly from Worth Castle below the falls, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. May and September, 10-6:30 June to August and 11-5 April and October. No reservation is needed; simply meet the boat at the dock. CHF20 (near $21).

On a hill above the falls, Castle Laufen can also be visited.
