Ultimate Packing Lists

This item appears on page 17 of the April 2020 issue.

It’s easy to forget something when you’re packing for a trip. Checking a master list of essential items can save a lot of hassle later.

If you’re an ITN subscriber, send in a copy of your master packing list — all the things you’ve ever considered taking on a trip, short or long. Whether you’re going to a tropical destination, a desert location, some cold high-altitude place or whatever, what are the necessities and what might come in handy? In just a word or two for each, list specific clothing items, electronics, paperwork, health aids, travel accessories, etc.

ITN will compile all of the lists received into a single, expansive Ultimate Packing List and print it in a future issue. Of course, no one would ever take everything on this all-encompassing list, but it will be a helpful aid to check to make sure nothing is overlooked.

In addition or instead, knowing that some people aren’t looking for what they may have left out but how little they can get by on, we’re also encouraging subscribers to send in a “bare minimums” Packing Light list. Some of you can travel for weeks with only a carry-on. What’s your secret? What’s in that bag, and how can you continue to look so good with so little? In addition to the list, feel free to provide brief explanations and advice on Packing Light.
