Indonesia earthquake

A magnitude-6.2 earthquake occurred on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi on Jan. 15, killing at least 90 people and injuring hundreds of others. Many thousands of people were displaced, particularly in the city of Mamuju, which suffered serious damage, including the partial collapse of a hospital.

A second powerful earthquake, measuring 7.1, occurred in the ocean between Sulawesi and Mindanao, Philippines, on Jan. 21, though no damage or tsunamis were reported.
